JAL IMPROVES AND EXPANDS TIME SENSITIVE CARGO PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
J-PRODUCTS 2002 MEET INCREASING DEMAND For HIGH QUALITY, VALUE ADDED CARGO SERVICES
TOKYO, JAPAN, March 11 2002: Japan Airlines is improving and expanding the range of time-sensitive cargo products and services, J Freight, J Speed and J Special, successfully marketed under the J-Products brand since 2000.
The new extended range of products and services, to be launched on April 1, 2002, includes a more detailed separation of cargo according to the needs of different industries. There are four new J Special categories including include shipments of delicate and sensitive instruments and equipment (J Care), art shipments
(J Art), fresh produce (J Fresh) and temperature controlled shipments (J Cool).
J Freight, J Speed, and J Special were introduced to meet shipper requirements for speed and time-defined shipments with accurate and rapid response of shipment status information.
From now, JALCargo's first objective is to add more technical handling capabilities to different cargo categories in response to customer needs, hence the more defined separation of different cargo types according to handling and shipping requirements of customers from different industries.
The second objective of the new, extended cargo services is to provide a more effective supply of information through the Internet using a web-site membership system requiring ID and customer password.
In addition to a 24-hour Internet booking system for J-Speed introduced in May 2001, new features offered to customers through the web-site membership system are shipping performance reports, rate lists and up-to-date JALCargo news.
Although the international cargo market is depressed at present, JALCargo's J-Products have been very successful since their introduction in April 2000. They are now available at 33 cities and airports worldwide.
J-Product movements in the first half of the current fiscal year rose by 25 percent on the same period the year before and total tonnage of the three J-Product categories, J-Speed, J-Freight and J-Special increased by 63 percent.
In spite of the low demand since the latter half of FY2000, demand for these quality services is on the increase, confirming the market's needs for high quality, value-added services.
Note: The brand name "J-Products" is hyphenated. The other product names are not.
