The Tomita Shuzo distillery was founded in 1951 when the Amami Islands were still under the control of the United States (they reverted to Japanese sovereignty three years later). Located near an area of restaurants and bars known as Yanigawa Dori (300 premises) at the foot of Mt. Rankan, this distillery is surrounded by the sea, forests and delicious food. We strive to enjoy every aspect of making shochu. I enjoy my food, so I do my best to produce shochu that will find favor with people of like mind. We always enjoy seeing visitors here to our distillery on Amami. |
