Explanation of Flight JL774 on December 1

On December 1, 2024, two of the three on-duty pilots scheduled to operate JL774 (from Melbourne Airport to Narita International Airport) failed the alcohol pre-test conducted at the hotel. They were subsequently cleared for departure after a follow-up check confirmed their alcohol levels were 0.00 mg/l. As a result of these circumstances and the necessary preparations, the flight was delayed by 3 hours and 11 minutes.

However, post-flight interviews revealed that two pilots on the flight had consumed an amount of alcohol exceeding the limits set by the Company's Operations Manual within 12 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. We regard this matter with the utmost seriousness and have reported the incident to the Civil Aviation Bureau.

The company takes this violation seriously and sincerely apologizes to the passengers on this flight. We are committed to thoroughly implementing measures to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.
