Regular Press Conference (March 19, 2013)

JAL held a regular press conference on March 19, 2013.
The President's greeting is posted as follows:

Yoshiharu Ueki
President

I sincerely appreciate you coming here today.

I would like to talk about the following two points:
1. about the change in directors on the board and the lineup of executive officers
2. about the current suspension of the Boeing 787 fleet

Changes to the executive lineup from April 1, 2013 was decided in an extraordinary meeting of the board of directors held today.

After leading JAL through a successful restructuring in the last three years, Director, Chairman Emeritus Kazuo Inamori will retire from the board of directors from April 1, 2013. He remains the Emeritus Chairman of JAL and in that capacity, will continue to support and advise the management team. Our company has caused many people much inconvenience after filing for bankruptcy. There is a lot more work to be done to restore public confidence in us, and to give back to society for their support as much as we can. Going forward, by applying principles from the "JAL Philosophy" and" Amoeba Management System" imparted by Chairman Emeritus Inamori, Chairman Onishi and I will stand at the helm, and on the premise of ensuring safety in all flight operations, put in indefatigable efforts with modesty.

We sincerely apologize to all customers and related parties for the inconvenience and concerns caused by the issues with the Boeing 787 fleet since its suspension from January 16, 2013.

We understand that progress is being made and developments have entered a new stage. We will respond to it in close cooperation with related parties. The decision to resume the 787 into service will depend on the results of several tests including its test flights by Boeing, as well as the evaluation by aviation authorities in the United States and Japan.

Thank you very much.
