JAL Group has three LCC carriers, offering you more
freedom and great deals to journey according to your
desired travel style, destination, and budget.
Introducing the charms of our JAL Group LCCs!

0101What is an LCC?

LCC is the abbreviation for Low Cost Carrier, also commonly referred to as a budget airline. The most prominent feature is the affordable flights. LCCs offer cheaper airfares, compared to Full Service Carrier (FSC) airlines such as JAL and ANA, making them a strong ally for those who want to keep costs down for travel and business trips.

0202Why LCCs
are Cheaper

Service Simplification

LCCs charge separately for services such as advanced seat selection, checked baggage, and in-flight meals and beverages. Eliminating unnecessary services allows LCCs to offer cheaper airfares and means that you get to customize and make purchases based on what you want. The freedom to select and buy services separately is the greatest advantage of LCCs.

Unified Aircraft Fleet

LCCs have standardized their fleets, using many of the same aircraft types to simplify maintenance and parts management and thereby cut down on maintenance costs. Fleet uniformity promotes flexible operations and more efficient use of resources.

Effective Flight Schedules

Many LCCs actively operate late-night and early- morning flights to maximize airport operating hours. By offering flights at times when airports are typically empty or at night when aircraft are often available in the ramp , LCCs can optimize the use of each aircraft and its crew. Optimizing resources lowers operating costs.
Even on short itineraries, LCCs can maximize the time spent in one place with efficient scheduling and flight combinations.

More Seats =
Maximized
Passenger Seating

LCCs reduce operating costs and offer lower fares by increasing passenger seats to accommodate more people on each flight.
Recently, many airlines have introduced business-class-like seating with extra legroom, providing more options and the freedom to choose the optimal combination for your journey.

0303About
JAL Group LCC’s

The Same Safety Standards
and Assurance as
Full Service Carriers

People tend to think that “cheap means low quality ” when it comes to LCCs. However, JAL Group LCCs employ the same level of maintenance and safety checks as Full Service Carriers, ensuring a consistently high level of safety.

  • *ZIPAIR Tokyo / SPRING JAPAN employs JAL Group safety standards; Jetstar Japan employs Qantas Group safety standards.

Based out of Narita:
A Unique Network Different
from JAL’s

JAL Group has three LCC companies: 1) ZIPAIR , which operates out of Narita Airport and connects to North America and Asia; 2) SPRING JAPAN which serves as a bridge between Japan and China; and 3) Jetstar Japan, which operates within Japan and on short-haul international routes in the Asia-Pacific region. Each airline boasts a unique and strong network with competitively cheap fares that make air travel even more accessible.

Minimal Differences in
Flight Cancellation Rates
between LCCs And FSCs!

LCCs are often thought to have more delays and flight cancellations than Full Service Carriers, but this is not the case. JAL Group LCCs provide reliable air travel that is largely on par with other airlines, including other Full Service Carriers.

At Jetstar Japan, we mainly operate domestic and short-haul Asian-Pacific international flights out of Narita Airport. As we are a member of the Jetstar Group, our customers can enjoy the reciprocal networks with our sister Jetstar airlines together with the warm, friendly style of hospitality typical of Australian-born companies. We actively pursue initiatives that contribute to the SDGs, such as planting trees in the forests near Asahikawa city and readily challenge ourselves in areas beyond the airline industry.
We want everyone to experience the anticipation and excitement that comes with flying, and we do this by offering low airfares and making travel easy and affordable. In Autumn 2024, we introduced an entirely new uniform to welcome our passengers and convey our new brand image. We look forward to welcoming you aboard our Jetstar Japan flights.
