New Year’s Greetings

As we welcome the New Year, I extend my warm greetings to our valued customers and hope you are healthy and well.
First of all, I express my deepest respect and appreciation to the healthcare professionals and frontline workers serving with great devotion to lead the effort to tackle COVID-19 and prevent the spread of the new Omicron variant.
The JAL Group continues to face a difficult environment in this pandemic and I express my heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and generous support.
As an official airline partner of Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, I feel that we were able to make a small contribution to the success of the Games by providing safe and secure transportation for the athletes, officials and other participants amid travel restrictions worldwide. I also feel that we were able to fulfill our mission as a public transport operator by providing prompt and safe transportation of vaccines during a time of great need.
Although the future remains uncertain, we will continue to undertake measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in order to provide a safe and secure travel experience for all passengers.
While the movement of people increases a person’s risk of getting and spreading COVID-19, we reaffirmed the importance of transportation because some things cannot be done without traveling and meeting people in person. In order to get back to a world where people and goods move freely and safely and to leave a better world for future generations, we need to create a sustainable society. The JAL Group has, therefore, positioned this year as the "first year of decarbonization" and will work actively to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2050, such as introducing fuel-efficient aircraft and developing new aviation fuels, through public-private partnership, that mitigate their impact on the environment.
JAL celebrated the 70th anniversary of its founding last year. We very much appreciate your patronage and wish you all the best in the New Year. May this year bring you much happiness.
Sincerely,
AKASAKA Yuji
