Flight safety is the foundation and social responsibility of Japan Airlines. It is our mission to provide an excellent inflight experience that is comfortable and most of all, safe in every situation. To fulfill this mission, we are committed to 3 areas of safety.

Human Resource Development

We nurture professionals in safety, as well as enhance their respective work areas through personalized training programs.

Strengthening of Safety Culture

To always remember lessons learnt from the past, and based on recommendations from the Safety Advisory Group, we will cultivate and pass on an austere safety culture at JAL that is second to none.

Utilization of Innovative Systems

We are developing systems and using accurate data-based methods to identify sources of potential problems as a part of our preventive measures to proactively safeguard operations.

On-time operations

Maintaining flight safety and on-time operations is an airline's vital commitment in gaining the customers' trust and ensuring their peace of mind. Flying time varies depending on wind direction as well as air traffic situations at the departure and arrival airports. To maintain on-time operations even under these conditions, every staff in every section that is engaged in operations work speedily and precisely to ensure a smooth flow throughout the customer journey, or as we like to say at JAL, "to make the best baton pass". We aim to provide the world's highest level of safety and on-time operations through teamwork across job divisions, and through innovative ideas to continuously improve quality.
