CSR Aircraft cabin
waste recycling

JAL has been pursuing aircraft cabin waste recycling initiatives since 2007. For example, a manual on recycling of aluminum cans, newspapers, in-flight magazines and plastic bottles is established at each airport and procedures are followed properly. On the other hand, all food wastes such as inflight meal debris from aircraft on international routes are incinerated according to quarantine, etc. regulations. Each country has a different way of disposing wastes. Therefore, international common rules are being developed with International Air Transport Association (IATA) in order to increase recycling in the future. This is a very difficult task, as it accompanies revisions to laws and regulations in each country. But we will steadily promote activities to increase the recycling volume rate, in coordination with IATA and airport companies.
