At Home
The kitchen faucet provides one example of how universal design principles can be applied in the home.
Older taps require twisting, sometimes with force, to turn the water on. Modern tap models are more easily controlled by simply pushing up or pulling down a lever.
Others require no dexterity or strength on the part of the user at all, being activated automatically by a motion sensor, making the action of turning the faucet on or off simple for all.
