What are Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
SDGs are concrete goals adopted at the United National Sustainable Society Summit held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in September 2015. The international society are asked to realize these goals by 2030 for a sustainable society. Not only does it cover issues such as no poverty and zero hunger in developing countries, but it also covers issues such as human rights and gender equality, industry, innovation and infrastructure found in developed countries, as well as issues addressed to the global society such as climate change and affordable and clean energy. Over 150 heads of member states pledged under an oath that no one will be left behind. There are 17 goals from Goal 1 No Poverty to Goal 17 Partnerships for the Goals. Each goal are inseparable overlapping economic, social, and environmental fields.
The United Nations have made a request to take global action to each government, company, and civil society to achieve these goals. Particularly companies are expected to take the initiative to solve the issues.
