Here is a look at the history of JAS’s ground staff uniforms, from the year the company was founded to the present day.

1971.10 -

2nd Generation Uniform
October 1971 - Open

In bright orange. Sharp, active design.

August 1972

Operated Tokyo–Oita route, the first jet service, using Boeing 727 aircraft.

October 1972

TDA Sky Call (the first online reservation system) commenced operation.

October 1973

Adopted "Red & Green" color marking on DC-9 aircraft.

1977.6 - 1988.9

3rd Generation Uniform
June 1977 - September 1988 Open

In addition to the company brand colors of red and green, a variety of three colors were added to create a total look.
Military style in general. The epaulet was designed fairly long.

December 1979

Adopted "Rainbow Color" marking on A300 aircraft.

July 1983

Established Japan Air Commuter Co., Ltd.

April 1988

Changed company name from Toa Domestic Airlines to Japan Air System Co., Ltd.

1988.10 - 1997.5

4th Generation Uniform
October 1988 - May 1997 Open

Used mustard-yellow as the basic color to project an active, bright and friendly image. A black tight skirt was worn in autumn and winter. Designed by Hiromi Yoshida.

October 1995

Launched the Kansai–Guangzhou route using A300-600R aircraft.

November 1995

Decided on the color marking for MD-90 aircraft. The designer was Akira Kurosawa, a master of cinema.

March 1996

Started service of the world’s first women’s lavatory on an aircraft, the "Floral Room."

April 1997

Introduced Boeing 777 aircraft and established Japan’s first domestic three-class configuration.

5th Generation Uniform
June 1997 - Open

In brown to emit a cool, composed and luxurious feel. Blouse in blue pin stripes or peppermint green. Airplane pattern print scarf. Designed by Yumiko Hara.
