Upgrading to Fuel-efficient Aircraft
The JAL Group is advancing the renewal of fleet with the latest fuel-efficient aircraft. Compared to conventional aircraft, these models reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 15% to 25% and also demonstrate superior noise reduction performance.

Furthermore, The JAL Group is steadily upgrading to fuel-efficient aircraft by utilizing funds raised through a public offering in fiscal 2020 and SDG bonds, the world's first transition bonds in the airline industry, issued in March 2022. Also, we will continue to make active and continuous use of ESG finance, including the issuance of our second, third, and fourth transition bonds in June 2023 and May 2024, respectively, to systematically upgrade to newer aircraft, thereby contributing to the reduction of our environmental impact.
Promoting the Introduction of Next-Generation Aircraft
As the development of next-generation aircraft equipped with new electric and hydrogen-powered technologies gains momentum, we are actively collaborating with airframe and engine manufacturers to promote technological innovation. In addition, since the development of infrastructure, including airports, is essential for next-generation aircraft, the JAL group cooperates with the government, airport companies, and other stakeholders to improve the environment for next-generation aircraft.
