Message from JAL Sustainabiliry Advisor

As part 3 of the "Sustainable Challenge" project, this project is again supervised by JAL Sustainability Advisor, Professor KANIE Norichika of Keio University's Graduate School.
Please take a look at Professor Kanie's message for this project.

The term SDGs is becoming more and more popular, but the substance of the SDGs has not yet been conveyed, and I feel that each of us is required to make a transformation.
I have been involved in the JAL Group's Sustainable Challenge Project as the Sustainability Advisor since its first year, and the project has evolved every year based on the concept of "creating better travel for the future together with our customers".
In addition to sustainability in transportation, this year's program focuses on "local exchanges". We believe that getting to know a place and its people more deeply is necessary to create a sustainable world.
On the other hand, I think it is a challenge that various efforts toward sustainability are not fully communicated to users. I hope that when customers learn about this "Sustainable Challenge" project, not only the JAL Group's employees but also our customers will be able to work together to create a sustainable world and make new changes.

Please also take a look at Professor Kanie's message video.

KANIE Norichika

He is one of the 15 independent scientists appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to write the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR2023), and is active in many other areas of SDGs and environmental issues in Japan and abroad. He has been instrumental in promoting and spreading sustainability within and outside the JAL Group, including supervising the Sustainability Challenge Project and executive dialogs on sustainability.
