#MISAWA ARTPORT -Radiating Colors and Scrap Materials unleashed in Misawa

The second collaboration between Japan Airlines and HERALBONY was an Art Wrap project within Misawa Airport in Aomori Prefecture.
“Art Fun Blade” - pieces created by combining scrap aircraft parts and art - were also on display, and limited edition collaborative baggage tags made from upcycled JAL cabin seat covers were sold there as well.

During the period, a total of 15 works by HERALBONY contracted artists were displayed in various parts of the airport such as stairs, windows, and observation deck.
Among them, “Flowers and Fireworks” by Akira Onozaki, selected in the “Main Design Selection Poll” held in early December as part of the “HAIZAI ART Upcycled Art Exhibition” at Haneda Airport, was displayed on a wall on the departure level, adding color to the beginning of many people's journeys.

    "First Trip Across the Sky"

    Asuka Tazaki/Iwate

"Resides in Rikuzen-Takata City. Asuka Tazaki was born with cerebral palsy.
With an interest in picture books and art books as a small child, he started to draw with encouragement from his father Minoru, who is a sculptor. His talent immediately unfolds, and leads him to win art awards. The tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake wiped out his home, over 200 pieces of his own artwork, and the abundant nature and the community of people he grew up with. The intense shock and sorrow of losing so much at once made him temporarily unable to draw, but his father’s words lead him to pick up his paint brush once more. From the other side of this excruciating experience, he continues to move many people through his work."

    "Flowers and Fireworks"

    Aki Onozaki/Akita

Living in Daisen City in Akita Prefecture, Aki Onozaki grew up admiring the great Omagari fireworks every year. She faced many difficulties as a child with autism, but now she contributes to the hair salon run by her family by taking charge of shampooing, while vigorously working on her art on her days off. She fills the surface to the rim with her art - of animals with expressions so vivid they seem to be happily conversing with one another, or flowers full of color that seem to radiate vitality. Her pieces represent scenes from the world where her soul inhabits, and at the same time, her wish towards the “real” world - “may you be blessed with a smile”.
